Mountain Yoga Holidays
Following on from our success as a yoga holiday venue for the past 5 years, we are delighted to be introducing our own Mountain Yoga Holidays at the Auberge sur la Montagne for the the first time this summer. The holidays are the perfect combination of daily yoga classes tailored to complement your favourite mountain activities coupled with luxurious accommodation, delicious home-cooked meals and stunning mountain scenery. Try the exhilaration of downhill mountain biking, hiking over mountain passes, or maybe even paragliding or white water rafting, or simply relax in the hot-tub or bask in the sunshine in the peaceful garden.
The twice daily yoga classes (on 5 days) for all levels will be run by Bec Black, who has 10 years experience in Yoga and energy practices to compliment mountain activities throughout the seasons. Bec specialises in yoga for mountain holidays and mountain sports targeting the physical and mental needs to compliment mountain holidays and fall-line sports.
The morning class will prepare you for your day of adventure with a dynamic yoga class to awaken the mind and bring heat to cold muscles. These sessions pay special attention to warming the body, stretching out the legs and building stamina for your mountain activities.
The evening yoga class is a restorative class designed to relax tired muscles and bodies after a full day in the mountains. This gentler, slightly longer session will vary each evening and include pranayama and meditation to help mind and body really let go and allow you to enter a state of deep relaxation.
The classes will be held outside when possible offering a deeper immersion in Nature and present moment awareness.
A highlight of the week is our Sunrise yoga session when (weather permitting) we get up early and take a gentle hike to a mountain lake for our morning yoga pratice watching the sun rise over the mountain ridge above the lake.
There are lots of exciting mountain activities on offer in the Alpine resorts surrounding the Auberge sur la Montagne – Val d’Isere, Tignes, Bourg St Maurice to name but a few.
Two organised hikes are included in the holiday price: one will be a more gentle acclimatisation walk, whilst the other will be more challenging with the option of a refreshing dip in a mountain lake.
You could try your hand at downhill mountain biking at Tignes, or take a gentle cruise down the cycle track from Bourg to while away the afternoon in the sunshine beside the swimming lake.
White-water rafting or hydro-speeding (basically rafting without a raft!) on the River Isere is always popular, whilst the intrepid few take to the skies on a dual paragliding flight.
You can also simply take the time to relax with a book in the sunny garden at the Auberge or by the Olympic-sized outdoor pool at Bourg St Maurice.
Or treat yourself to a relaxing massage from one of our local therapists in the comfort of the Auberge.
Accommodation and Meals
You will be staying at the Auberge sur la Montagne in the peaceful mountain village of La Thuile at Sainte Foy Tarentaise. The Auberge has a spacious beamed lounge with an open fireplace and bar, a candle-lit dining room, and 8 very comfortable ensuite bedrooms. There’s a pretty south-facing terrace and garden to sun yourself in, and a hot tub and sauna to relax in. There’s also a TV, DVD in the Den, and free wifi.
Our professional chef will create a delicious buffet brunch in the morning after yoga, served on the terrace (weather permitting), including fruit juice and smoothies, a selection of cereals (our overnight oats are a popular choice), fresh fruit, yogurt and boiled eggs. Freshly baked hot croissants and bread with home-made marmalade, jams, and local honey are also available, along with freshly brewed tea, herbal teas or coffee.
On 6 nights you’ll be treated to a sumptuous, but healthy 3-course dinner in our candle lit dining room accompanied by our quality local Savoyard house wines. We’re always happy to cater for vegetarians, vegans and other special dietary needs with advance notice.
